NJROTC
LaGrange NJROTC program has been very active in the local community since it was activated in 2003. The program supports the City Annual Military Ball sponsored by the Mayor’s Military Advisory Council, the American Legion “Poppy Day”, Lake Charles Christmas Parade, City Wide “Beach Sweep”, “Trash Bash, and “E Recycle” events, and the Southwest Louisiana Special Olympics. Additionally, the NJROTC “Color Guard” support dozens of City and Parish-Wide events annually of which our Cadets are most pleased to participate.
The Navy JROTC program provides exciting new opportunities to LaGrange students that are not available to other schools in Calcasieu Parish. The NJROTC program is a Citizenship Development program that focuses on the growth and development of the total student. The program does not develop students for participation in the Armed Forces; however the NJROTC employs military training elements in the Classroom and extra-curricular Team Training activities to promote “teamwork”, re-enforce self-discipline and build self-confidence. NJROTC Cadets proudly wear their JROTC uniform once a week during the School Term. This gives them the opportunity to demonstrate their personal growth and achievement by displaying their badges (JROTC Ribbons) Shoulder Cords, and JROTC levels of responsibility (Cadet Rank).
NJROTC provides the opportunity for LaGrange students to participate in a variety of extra-curricular academic, scholastic, and social activities. A dozen Cadets are selected annually to participate in a week long JROTC Summer Camp in Texas. The Cadets participate in Academic, Color Guard, Marching Drill, Track and Field, Air Rifle, and Orienteering (navigational) Competitions on a monthly and annual basis. On any given weekend the Cadets compete against Army, Air Force, Marine Corps and other Navy JROTC programs in the above activities from Houston, TX to Baton Rouge, La. Additionally, the program conducts Educational Field trips to Colleges and Universities with ROTC programs, the National World War II Museum in New Orleans, Space Museum in Houston, TX and others. The NJROTC Program year normally concludes with an Annual Awards Banquet. Exciting opportunities await you in the LaGrange NJROTC. Your participation is highly encouraged!
